Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) in Ho Chi Minh City
introduced its pioneering model of building a smart urban area using modern technology on March 13.
Set to be the country’s first smart urban area model, the
city now accommodates more than 20,000 people living and working on a site of
43ha.
QTSC Director Lam Nguyen Hai Long said the city is fully
equipped with housing, restaurants, schools, medical stations, businesses and
entertainment areas.
In 2016, QTSC digitalised its technical infrastructure via
asset management system GIS and tools to manage data and update infrastructure
information regarding electricity and water supply, wastewater, greenery and
land.
The city has used software to track vehicle registration
plates and recognise faces, equipped offices with automatic Smarthome systems,
opened a farming lab using technological advances and adopted public lighting
management software capable of saving
35 percent of energy and adjusting light intensity based on weather.
It spends nearly 10 billion VND on smart technology each year, partly funded by firms based in the
city.
Next year, QTSC will continue using technologies to build smart offices, automatic irrigation and corporate internal governance system.
Founded on March 16, 2001, QTSC has attracted 150 ICT companies (49 foreign and 91
domestic ones), and 33 investors who have been completing infrastructure to
serve local needs. It has become an attractive destination for those who want
to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in IT industry.
